The last couple of weeks on my watchlist
I admit, I am lazy and I have been avoiding writing individual posts about stuff I watched. So far this season I’m watching Mushoku Tensei 2, Bang Dream It’s MyGo!!!!!!, Sukimega and Masterful cat, Helck (and Ultraman Blazar, which isn’t an anime). I’ve decided to drop Yohane(for now at least) and imma sit out on Link Click until it finishes most likely. That out of the way, let’s dump thoughts and pretend I’m good at that.
[ON HOLD] Genjitsu no Yohane: Sunshine in the Mirror (1):
When I first wanted to talk about this one, the blog post was gonna be called “WTH did I just watch”, and its appropriate. The idea of Yohane living in some hybrid modern hybrid fantasy world is cool I guess, but I just couldn’t take it seriously. Maybe I wasnt meant to as it was just an April Fool’s joke, but I can’t enjoy anime that just goes out of whack for no reason. Let me get this out of the way: I am not a fan of Aquors, I disliked Sunshine (so much I didnt watch it), and I wasnt a fan of them in either SIF or All Stars. I am not going to trash talk the characters personalities and such as they look pretty much the same to me as in the game, unless maybe blown out a bit.
Yohane starts off by not being able to find a job (/pass auditions) and therefore has to return to her hometown. We find out her DOG (yes, capital) is giant (though I guess it can become small too?) and it talks. We also meet one of her friends later on and get introduced to some weird ass glitch effect, probably monsters or some shit. Thats kinda when I stopped paying attention. It’s been a while since I watched it so I can barely even remember stuff. I do recall the singing animation sequence to be pretty decent. I love Sublimation’s work on Nijigasaki (and later Superstar’s s2) and I can say they’ve done a good job with this first episode. And we find she has some magical powers when she sings or something. Macrogear here we go again.
Overall, not very impressed so far, but the drop isn’t set in stone yet.
[WATCHING] Suki na Ko ga Megane wo Wasureta (1-2):
I was super hyped from this one when I saw the trailer. GOHands doing a slice of life? Sign me up baby!
The first episode was a bit of an eyesore sometimes because of their weird wide lens and usage of 3d but nothing you cant get used to. (Worth mentioning that some people got motion sick on forums though) The backgrounds looked stellar and the character animation is exceptionally well. The 2nd episode becomes very anime like (albeit with alot of reused shots) but it still looks very decent.
The characters are pretty exaggerated with Mie’s eyesight being super bad she can’t see things unless she’s 2cm infront of an object shes looking at without her glasses, and Komura exploding every time Mie does something cute or gets close to him. I’d like if those moments were spaced out a bit more, but judging from ep2 thats not what we’re getting. Jokes will most likely get repeated often (like the airplane one) and I really hope it doesnt wear out quick. I really do want this one to stick with me until the end. The 2nd episode also has them going out on a date whilke and after picking up Mie’s new glasses and it was mega cute. They deserve to be together.
[WATCHING] Dekiru Neko wa Kyou mo Yuuutsu (1-2):
Now, with this one I wasnt so sure I’d like it. The trailer made it look like a super hyper mega very GOHands esque show, but it seems like Sukimega is that, and this one uses their animation style to its advantage.
The backgrounds can look pretty dull at times but is wel contrasted with cute and simple yet detailed character designs. Out of the two, I am picking this one as my favorite GOHands show so far.
Yukichi is portrayed as some mega super cat who for some reason walks on two legs and takes care of our main drunk Saku. She picked him up when he was still a kitten and nursed him until he became what he is. Dude casually goes around the block doing chores and to the supermarked. Yukichi is a chad, I wish I had a cat like that. Saku is the opposite. Works all day, her appartment was a landfill before Yukichi came into the fray. She also has a crush on one of the executives at the company and is trying her best not to look trash in front of him. Later in episode 2 its revealed that he even visited her apartment while it was a dumpster, yikes. BUT it seems like she might become his errand girl(aka assistant) for a while so let’s see how that plays out.
Yukichi also gets mad if Saku gets home late, but at least he understands who’s paying for his premium cat food cans.
ps, the fridge scene was cool.
[WATCHING] Mushoku Tensei II: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu (0, 1-2):
Oh boy. An anime I have originally avoided until not very long ago. I always thought it was about some pedophile dude who steals panties for a living and is borderline hentai. Well, I wasn’t entirely wrong but I’m not entirely right either.
Episode 0 seems to be pretty unrelated so far in Rudeus’s story but gives us an idea what Sylphie was doing during the incident. She ended up at a perverted yuri lady’s house, accidentally killing a monster that just attacked them. Under the lie that she might get arrested there unless she becomes her guard, she does just that. During the course of the episode, we see some other noble dude (i forgot what it was exactly, maybe that lady’s brother?) plotting to kill her. We saw Sylphie be awkward earlier in the episode but dude does she rock. She blew that assassin pretty hard. In the end, that noble lady admits she was lying, but Sylphie being the best waifu decides to just stick with her.
The animation in eps 0 and 1 was pretty decent. Other than film grain being abused, and characters looking a bit less rough (i am not saying s1 looked bad, i liked the style) it looked okay. We got to see depressed Rudedude meet a party with another tsundere lady and the pso2 episode oracle commander person. They tackle a quest together after seeing him be down in the dumps but it goes smoothly (to an extent) and him feeling a little bit better in the end.
Episode 2’s animation was a bit meh for the most part, though the solo battle with Rudedude vs those animals was super good. We get to meet best pal dude(tentative title) who proudly announced he took a quest, ends up at the same place as rudedude and the gang, punches the main guy from rudeman’s party and he just casually goes like eh we can friend now. Best pal dude(tentative title) doesnt seem too hapy with rudedude though so he kinda just smashes a table. He just no understando za peino yetto. Later we find out the tsundere went missing and m dude got killed and rudeus just sets out like a boss, finds her, saves her and adds her to his harem. Also he feels better afterwards or some shit.
Dude leave Eris behind, Roxy is clearly superior. End of story.
[WATCHING] Helck (1):
I WANT MORE ALREADY AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.
Demon lord dude gets defeated so Vermillion Firegirl dude and some bleach pengiun dude decide to hold a tournament to replace the demon lord at that castle. Vamirio is PRETTY DAMN CUTE and I love when she explodes. Wives who do a lot of collateral are the best after all. While the tournament is supposed to be for Demons only, Helck is a human. He seems to hate humanity for reasons yet unknown (though he has a big bounty on his head) and decides “screw it lets do it”. Dude looks like an 80’s hero manga character and also has a combat power of 99 who destroys literally everyone, yet is super kind. Varmilio and bleach penguin dude are super against him, and try to change the tournament in a way to get him disqualified but to poor results as he just seems to win regardless. It seems like they will join forces later on so I’m looking forward to that.
Very decent first episode, with passable animation (though I dig the character design). I don’t have much to say about it except that it’s good and worth wasting your 25 minutes on. Source: Trust me.
[WATCHING] BanG Dream! It’s MyGO!!!!! (1-5):
This one surprisingly started with the first 3 episodes airing back to back and that brings us to episode 5. The first 2 episodes revolved around Anon’s obsession to be the center of attention and trying to form a band, and Tomori’s experiences with the past. I am not sure why the other chick decided to quit Crychic yet and making poor Tomori suffer, but I hope she makes up for it. I can’t stand Tomori being depressed, she deserves all the love.
Anon however is seen just coming back to Japan from England and tries forming a band for attention. She tries asking some people, and ends up asking Tomori who refuses at first due to her past experiences. Over the course of the episodes we find out why that was the case and meet the other band members. The cat gremlin girl is also amazing 10/10. I love how she just barged in to their rehearsal and is like: hi, im in your band now lol.
ps. Anon also sucks at guitar kind of. Anon later escapes the confrotation about her being crap and that leads to pretty nice scenes with her and Tomori. It’s also revealed that the title might be a play on them being “lost”.
The art and animation feels like a step up from seasons 2 and 3, and definetly the other bandori stuff we got after those. Not quite D4DJ level yet but they’ve gotten better at framing shots and I love it. Though my only question is, WHY IS THERE A PIKACHU?!??!?!?!??!?!??! If it was a real location pokemon cafe or something they could’ve just put Wooser on there. Really weird.
[WATCHING] Ultraman Blazar (1):
Not gonna talk much about this one as this is mostly an anime dump post. OP is good, military gets to shoot bang bang monster, monster no damage, guy dies?, gets ultraman henshin device, monke beats up monster, leaves like a chad. I haven’t seen much Ultraman before, other than Z but I dig this one so far. I might post ocassionally about it If I feel like the episodes are good enough. BUT THEY USE PRACTICAL EFFECTS IN 2023 KAMEN RIDER WHY U DONT DO THAT WHY CG TOEI PLSSSSSSSS
Now that was a long post, probably not even worth reading. I was thinking of doing these per series and per episode basis but I got lazy. I’ll try to post them when I’m free but for now heres this. I am now out.
