Hello,

it’s 2024 and the first season is already stacked. I am watching alot of anime this season but not many I want to talk about. These are just some interesting ones I picked:

Gushing over Magical Girls:

Hoo boy, this is the first anime of this season and the first ecchi anime I have watched in a long while. It’s basically about a girl Utena who seems to love magical girls, and also wants to become one but somehow gets roped in to being a villain. So far from the first episode its hard to tell how this show is going to turn out, but its funny. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it was actually fun watching Utena torture the magical girls? Huh. I guess I discovered a new fetish. Go go sadism I guess…
The animation is nothing to write home about, just plain serviceable. It’s available in two versions, censored and uncensored. I went with the uncensored one because why not. I don’t like censorship. I’ll stick with it for a little while. Can’t go wrong, right? I hope.

Torture Princess:

Have you seen Sleepy Princess? Well, it’s literally that. A weird “torture” show, and the torture is literally just bullying the princess into confessing her secrets with food. Just that. She has a talking sword she seems to do nothing with so far, I have no idea why she just didn’t fight her way out. Though, they didnt mention how she even got captured by the demon people so who knows what goes on there. If you like screaming blondes, and tasty food, and watching people enjoy tasting food, this might be the anime for you.

Dungeon Meshi:

Hunger, the worst enemy in dungeons. The party almost dissolved, but gotta save MC’s sister somehow. Time to eat some dungeon monsters. What does this anime have in common with torture princess? Both main girls are blonde, they like food, and they scream. If you’re a studio trigger fan, watch it. Don’t even think about it. Close this tab and watch it.

Weakest Tamer:

Weakest tamer is finally out, and the first episode was a blast. That cannot be said for the next episode though. It felt a bit off animation wise. This anime is also an isekai, follows a young girl who ran away from home and now basically just wanders around while on her way to the royal capital. You’ll see her hunt, solve mysteries and have wholesome time with people. If they stick to the LN story this will be a pretty chill anime.

Metallic Rouge:

Metallic Rouge is a new original anime by Bones, and is some kind of henshin mech show. I wasnt planning to even watch it let alone talk about it but it has been a pleasant surprise. Both of the MC’s are enjoyable to watch, and the action is simply beautiful. The music is very well done too, featuring multiple artists and is generally a good blend of 2d and CG (courtesy of st.Sanzigen). I recommend watching it too.

We also have Urusei Yatsura 2022 returning with another season, and its basically what you’d expect out of it. Pretty good watch so far. Theres Ishura, which I originally wanted to include but I’ll hold off for now. The power balance is way too weird, too many characters are getting introduced and the story isn’t going anywhere. If it gets good, I’ll make a separate series or episode impressions for that one. Fire Hunter also came back, but I dont really understand whats going on so I cant really talk about it.
